And so it begins. My first blog. My first entry. How will this go? How many people will actually view it? How many will actually give a flying donkey's diseased rectum that it exists? How will it end? Will it ever end? Will I end? Will I ever stop typing questions? Bugger if I know the answers, but here it is. Numero uno. The beginning. The start of my journey.
You know I originally only created my profile to leave a comment on a blog from The Refined Gamer about the story of Final Fantasy XIII, only a mere 8 months after he had posted it. Needless to say he wasn't a fan of the game. But I left my two cents on the matter, stating what I did and did not agree on, and that was that. The end. Was never going to look back on this site.
But as I actually did look back on it I saw a possible opportunity. You see I want to get into writing fiction one day but being the bone idle and lazy bum that I am, I haven't gotten around to it yet. I can never sum up the patience or motivation to sit down in one place for a given amount of time. That and I only got a C grade in GCSE English so my spelling and grammar are fuck awful. But with this profile and this blog I can possibly ease myself into a comfortable position with writing. Starting small and then moving onto the big things that I dream to create from my imagination and if that ever does become a reality... well... God help you all.
But yes, in this blog I will be discussing stories in video games. I realise there's probably a million other blogs, websites, toasters and other things like this in the world of the glorious internet but I wanted to have a stab at it. As a gamer I'm of the ones that always looks for a great story before everything else. A game could have the uttermost worst control scheme in all of history and I wouldn't care as long as the plot kept me interested and it was told and presented well. This is one of the reasons why I am not a fan of racers or beat-em-ups. I have more reasons for why I don't like those genres but I'll get into that another time. Maybe...
I'll be discussing with you all about why I love/like/don't mind/did not enjoy/HATED WITH AN UNGODLY PASSION the stories of various games and my reasons for doing so. I know my views are going conflict with many so just keep in mind it's only my opinion and whilst I welcome a nice debate I don't wish to start any flame wars.
So with that out of the way it's time to decide on what to write about to christen this endeavour. I spent hours on this, doing nothing but just trying to think of what to start with and dear god did I trouble with just THAT little aspect. My brain felt like it going through a combine harvester in slow motion.
In the end I decided to go with what I had started in that first comment I made on Refined Gamer's blog. I'm going to discuss the story of Final Fantasy XIII. Yup, the game that broke the Final Fantasy fanbase in half like a shatter-proof ruler is the first beast I am going to tackle. Kinda makes my whole talk about starting off small seem kind of redundant now doesn't it? But regardless I've made up my mind and I'm going to press on.
